Until then, boAt’s founders were reluctant to work with retailers and distributors. “The working capital required to sustain retail distribution would have been very difficult for a brand like ours as the retail ecosystem tends to return the product if it is not sold,” says Aman.

But Kanwaljit insisted that to capture India’s consumption story, boAt should launch its offline strategy. The founders began meeting with distributors and training them in boAt’s value system. Aman believes that retailers had to be trained to be “boAt heads,” a community used to startup loyalists.

As luck would have it, a distributor in Mumbai, seeing the success of boAt, agreed to pay the full amount to buy thousands of units from the company. Aman trusted and the distributor became a brand loyalist, and still makes crores from boAt products.

The company started out as an audio electronics store. Important parts for some of this company’s products come from China. Made In PRC is written on some products of this company.

boAt is included in the top 10 brands in the world and the number of users of this company’s products is continuously increasing. Any product of boAt company can be bought through online shopping sites like Flipkart, Amazon etc. with special offers.

Delhi-based consumer electronic startup boAt has posted a profit after tax of INR 78.6 Cr in FY21. This is an almost 61% rise from the profit of INR 48.85 Cr it witnessed In FY20.

During the financial year ending in March 31, 2021, the Mumbai-based startup has posted total revenue of INR 1,531 Cr in FY21, a massive rise of almost 2X it clocked in FY20. boAt has registered a total revenue of INR 704 Cr in FY20.

While the startup recorded a total revenue from operations worth INR 1,511 Cr in FY21, its other income posted a revenue of INR 19.57 Cr. The startup during FY21, clocked a EBIDTA of INR 127.1 Cr.

In the expenditure front, boAt witnessed a 122% hike from INR 637.5 Cr in FY20 to INR 1,420 Cr in FY21.
