Reacher season 3 is officially bringing back Alan Ritchson’s Jack Reacher to Prime Video.

It should come as no surprise that Amazon quickly approved more episodes of Season 2, as the show proved to be another blockbuster. However, “Reacher” was officially renewed for a third season two weeks before the second season debuted on Prime Video, thus it was a bit surprising that the show was renewed as soon as it was.

It was a bet that paid off though, as fans and critics alike praised season 2 upon its release. So now that we know “Reacher” season 3 is confirmed to be in the works, here’s everything you need to know, from release date speculation, cast, plot and more.

Reacher season 3 release date Rumors

We currently know that the Reacher season 3 is being produced, but we haven’t received any indication as to when it will air. We can, however, predict when future episodes will be released.

 Season 1 was Filmed between April 15 to July 30, 2021, Season 1 made its Prime Video premiere on February 4, 2022. This indicates that three and a half months were spent on filming, and six more months were spent on post-production. The earliest we can expect Reacher season 3 to air on TV is October 2024, as production has already started.

But I believe there’s a chance Prime Video will wait until December 2024. That would put it on an annual timetable, which is typically preferred by networks and studios for their serialized TV shows (season 2 premieres in December 2023). I predict that Amazon will release season 3 in December 2024, given that the December release timeframe for Prime Video in season 2 worked.

Reacher season 3 cast

Only two cast members for season three have been formally announced as of yet. Naturally, Alan Ritchson, the original Jack Reacher, will make a reappearance. Maria Sten, who played Reacher’s old military colleague Frances Neagley, will rejoin him once more.

Expect to see unfamiliar faces aside from those two. With the exception of a cameo by Malcolm Goodwin as Margrave PD Police Captain Oscar Finlay, only Ritchson and Sten from season 1 were carried over to season 2.

Showrunner Nick Santora said in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter that fans should anticipate the same thing from Reacher season 3. “The DNA of Reacher is that he moves about on his own and teams up with good people when there’s bad lurking about, and then he says goodbye to those people and goes on his way.”

Reacher season 3 plot

The seventh book in Lee Child’s “Reacher” series, “Persuader,” will serve as the basis for season three, as Alan Ritchson has already revealed. If you want to know nothing at all about the upcoming season of “Reacher,” turn back right away. I won’t give any spoilers here.

Now, there are only two things you should be aware of regarding “Persuader” and how season 3 will connect with it. First, here’s a description of the story from Santora’s interview with The Hollywood Reporter: “Reacher will go undercover to rescue an informant held by a haunting foe from his past.”

The second thing is that while Sten is returning as Neagley for a third season, Neagley doesn’t actually appear in the source material. So that makes her character a bit of a wild card for season 3 because the showrunners will need to go off-book.
