The Wheel of Time Season 2, When The Wheel of Time premiered on Prime Video in 2021, it was right up there with competing titles like The Witcher or even Game of Thrones. The series was a tremendous hit upon its initial release in November 2021, ranking top on Neilsen’s Original Series Chart with 1.16 billion viewing minutes in the first few days.
It was also Prime Video’s most popular series at the time. The show’s star-studded ensemble cast and/or the novels’ established fan-base who wanted to see the stories come to life are most likely what make The Wheel of Time a successful endeavor. And it’s for these reasons that the show was renewed for a second season before its November 2021 premiere.
In July 2022, way ahead of the second season premiere, The Wheel of Time was given the renewal for a third season as well, announced at their panel presentation at the 2022 San Diego Comic-Con.

It is an adaptation of Robert Jordan’s eponymous novel series, co-authored by Brandon Sanderson on the final three entries, and was developed for Prime Video by Rafe Judkins of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. fame.

What’s the Background of The Wheel of Time?
The Wheel of Time on Prime Video is based on the bestselling novel series of the same name written by Robert Jordan, pen name of James Oliver Rigney Jr. The series includes 14 books, one prequel, and two extra works. Brandon Sanderson finished the last three novels after his death in 2007. The entire novel series is known for its intricate plots, enormous fantasy worlds of magic, and sprawling casts of characters, all of which are reflected in the setting of the streaming series (with some major deviations).
The central theme of all the books is a prophecy stating that a specific being known as The Dragon will be reborn, and its reincarnation will either save or destroy the planet. This is also the underlying narrative of the show, with Moiraine, the protagonist, on a mission to discover the Dragon Reborn. Moiraine faces three teenage warriors on her trip and is joined by two members of the Aes Sedai, a formidable female-led organization to which she belongs.

What Is the Story of The Wheel of Time Season 2?
The second and third books in the series, The Great Hunt and The Dragon Reborn, are thought to have inspired The Wheel of Time Season 2. However, it will not be an exact adaptation of the novel because the plotlines of the program are established by the arcs of the characters rather than by the books.
The fantasy series’ second season will pick up where the first season left off. After Rand and Moiraine escape to seek for The Eye of The World, they have a deadly meeting with the Dark One in the season one finale, while the rest of them join forces with Fal Dara to combat the Dark One. Rand defeats the Dark One with the aid of a totem given to him by Moiraine, but he eventually goes out on his adventure alone, leaving Moiraine behind. The second season will pick up from this questionable climax and explore what occurs next, as the Seanchan army makes their way from the sea.
Who Are the Creators of The Wheel of Time?
Rafe Judkins, a name linked with popular shows such as Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Chuck, Hemlock Grove, and My Own Worst Enemy, produced The Wheel of Time for Prime Video.
